After the chaos of Christmas and New Year the KMI Team had a lot to look forward to at the end of January and were counting down to Friday Jan 21st! After the success of our First Team Building Sailing in 2010…the 2011 one was nearing and was sure to be another success.
The team left the KMI office in Teddington bright and early and made their way to the Sno! Zone Milton Keynes for the unveiling of Team Building 2011! The day started with an intro from Co-ordinator Terri and office Manager Anthea who made the team feel very welcome and unveiled the day’s events!

Starting off with Teambuilding challenges on the slopes from 10am, KMI were ready to go in their waterproofs and wellies. Separated into four teams with team captains, the first challenge was called Wacky Races, and the name says it all! Each team captain donned a fancy dress outfit which kept everyone amused from Bugs Bunny to Taz the devil! Racing each other down the slopes in plastic trays going forward and backwards - this exercise wasn’t for the faint hearted and got everyone laughing from their bellies and burning all the Christmas excess off!

This race was then followed by a Build A Sledge challenge where each team were given bits of wood and a snow board to build and slide down at the end! These exercises brought the teams together and showed camaraderie at its best! A well deserved rest and hot lunch followed and then it was back on the snow for a 2hr boarding or skiing lesson!

After acquiring all the essential gear for the lessons, from boots to poles, boards to skis the KMI Team were ready to show off the skills or for some learn a new skill altogether! Everyone took to it fairly quickly and each lesson had a professional instructor in charge showing them the ropes! Luckily there weren’t too many tumbles or bruises and everyone walked or hobbled off the snow thoroughly enjoying themselves and not wanting the lesson to end! Prizes were given out in the Alpine Suite which overlooked the slopes; the winning team for the group challenges were team Leonard- led by Charlotte- Congratulations for your hard work!
An evening in Milton Keynes beckoned with a meal at Latin American Restaurant Las Iguanas where staff swapped stories and amusing tales about their adventures on the snow!

"I loved, loved, loved the day! Especially the toboggan races.
Probably a good lesson in listening when we did the skiing. When I really took on board what the instructor said, I found that I skied better and enjoyed it more!"
Lucy Hamlin - Senior Brand Manager
"Well organized!! And lots of fun! It’s great for us newer people to get to know each other, as you just don’t get time to in the office – definitely should have more get togethers, even if just a casual drink after work! It was really nice to get to know people more from my side! And to properly introduce myself to the new girls!
I wish I could remember the funny parts we had – I know there was a few. Dare I say Lisa on the elevator (or rather not), team leaders in the animal suits!! Hilarious!!"
Jessica Kent – Customer Service & Supply Chain Assistant
"I had a great day, the tea tray sledge competition was a great laugh and the snowboarding was good practice for when I go away next week! I got told off far too many times for boarding in places I should have been, I’m such a rebel!"
Spencer Harding - Design
"Brilliant day out! Really good to get to know all the new faces coming on board."
James Teager – Supply Chain Co-Ordinator
